FAMILY ADVENTURES AT NATIONAL TRUST Summer adventures in Sussex. Rolling down a really big hill with the smell of the grass and the sun of your face, on the edge of out-of-control – do you remember the thrill of it as a child? SHEFFILED PARK: Acres of landscape garden bordered by historic parkland and woodland. Mid April until late May is the perfect time for a visit to see the bluebells at Sheffield Park and Garden. There are plenty of places to enjoy them, whether you prefer to stick to the paths or pull on your wellies and venture off track. Here are the best places to spot them around the estate this spring. Visit their first Waterlily Festival from 9 June to the 15 July to celebrate the serenity and beauty of these flowers on the lakes through a series of displays, events and talks.
NYMANS : A garden lovers' home for all seasons, with an extensive yet intimate garden set around a romantic house and ruins. . There’s plenty for families to see and do at Nymans. Explore the garden and woods or discover hidden treasures in the house. Escape into the garden at Bateman's and discover some of Kipling's most famous characters that have fled their book pages.Some of the characters from The Jungle Book have escaped from their book and are out and about hiding in the garden. Pick up our Jungle Book trail and follow the clues to find them all and win a prize.£2.50 per trail.
WWI weekend; Sat 4 & Sun 5 Aug 2018, 11am to 4pm
Commemorating the centenary of the end of the First World War, be transported back to a WWI field camp.Explore our First World War encampment complete with mess tent, field ambulance and more. The 'As You Like it' Shakespearean Family trail
With scroll in hand go on a Shakespeare inspired trail around the mansion meeting some of his famous characters. Find chests in the state rooms and complete the activities to create your own play brought to life by your own characters.
Science Saturdays with Sublime Science
Join Dragon’s Den winning Sublime Science for a workshop on Saturdays in August and get involved in some exciting hands-on experiments. £7 per child and booking is essential.
Plan it, Build it, Test it: Family Craft
Get involved in some science and technology inspired craft activities at the Play Tent on Wednesdays in August. Normal admission prices apply with a £2 donation for the craft activities.
BODIAM CASTLE: Archetypal 14th century moated castle with ruined interior - a glimpse of medieval splendour. Have-a-go archery and falconry, weekends & school holidays from 30th March to 3rd September. Join the archers and falconers from The Hawking Centre and test your skill with a bow and arrow or try your hand at flying a bird of prey. Please note that these activities will be dependent on the weather. Archery: 6 arrows £3.50. Falconry Walk £5.00
